the contents of this site feature the mundane, banal humdrum of my everyday life. you will NOT find news coverage, in-depth analyses or anything of noteworthy significance. i indulge in being a drama queen and making mountains of molehills. acknowledge such bouts of exaggeration for what they truly are- pockets of worthless hot air. or trviality frivolity.

under the sea

i finally persuaded ray to check out underwater world last friday. after we ran ALOT of errands, and saw some cute pink dolphins, we made it there about six-ish.

here are some of the lovely pictures we took!

corals and their fish

lovely sea angels.
discovery was showing their ads for the longest time ever.
they are even being advertised on taxis.

here they are. very very small. they really look like angels, flapping their wings and swimming upwards.

if you have a more sophisticated camera, here's how one would look like.
it was so strange. nobody else seemed very interested in the sea angels but ray and me.

speaking of rays, here's one.

monitor lizard. i don't know what he was doing there.

cuttlefish. this one's cute. it raises its tentacles like ET when you wave at him.

pufferfish. we like.

moray eel. it looks like it has leopard spots or something. anyways this is huge.

lionfish. aptly named.

shark embryos. this is gross. you can actually see the silhouettes of baby sharks swimming inside the older shells.

grotesquely gargantuan fish.
just compare it to the size of my head (huge by any standards).
i'm quite sure it was much bigger than that though.
i guess the picture is not-to-scale then haha.

stingyray swimming away.

emperor-something fish.
it has really nice markings. too bad its shape is really quite hideous.

cool hologram of the great white.

cute shark.

cute sharks that look like vacuum-cleaning catfish.

just another day in the aquarium.

giant garoupa.
and its giant groupie.

gracie the very cute dugong.

jelly! spongebob's fave.

mushroom jelly.

i can't find nemo.
damn the morons who scratched the glass.

this thing is actually a fish. it's a dragonfish.

i'm quite pleased with how most of the pictures turned out. ray was commenting that he spent so much time and money taking scuba diving courses when all the sea creatures can be found in underwater world. my only remorse is that we didn't take enough pictures of the sharks. the camera chose that part of our visit to act up.

after spinning a couple more rounds on the travelator, ray and i finally got dizzy and proceeded to leave the place. but not before checking out the gift store! you know how gift stores have a reputation for being rip-offs, NOT UNDERWATER WORLD's. surprisingly, their stuff was quite reasonably priced. i got a nice sea angel handphone accessory thingy for a mere $2.90.

and these are only 7 bucks apiece!

in a whale reversal of roles.

here's a sweet blue whale. so cute.
damn you japanese for eating whales and wanting to double the number you slaughter in the name of science. PUI! whales are not mere fish, they are very endangered mammals!

ray and i were really dumb. the whole time we were in underwater world, we were whining about the lack of turtles. "where are all the wohs?", "no wogees!", blah blah blah. and then we realised they weren't supposed to be inside at all! they were outside! you don't even have to pay to see the turtles! DAMN! and what was really sad was that we spent so much time inside LOOKING for turtles that it was very very dark when we got out. so we couldn't really see the turtles clearly. they were huge though.

giant crush! i like!
damn you indian fishermen for fishing irresponsibly and killing hundreds of turtles each year!

that's about it i guess. sentosa's actually quite nice now. i'm glad someone's doing something about it. we should all go and support sentosa! THANK YOU BABY for going with me! you are such a sea-angel. MUAKS!

and don't believe my sister when she says mekong giant catfish are cute. they aren't at all very cute and huggable. because if you're hugging them, they are usually dead and bloody.
